For 39 years the Metropolitan Business League has provided supports and services for Virginia’s small, women owned, and minority businesses. The business association is the oldest and largest organization of its kind in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Virginia Business Empowerment Conference (VBEC) is a 19 year old event that brings together thousands of entrepreneurs and professionals, as well as business and political leaders.

Women entrepreneurs and professionals play a vital role in driving Virginia’s economy. The Women Who Mean Business Summit will support and advance women’s economic opportunity and foster their success. The aim is to reduce barriers, provide entrepreneurial and skill building training, and establish business women’s networks. We will bring to this event the most powerful women in Virginia business to help develop the next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs.
The summit will have two tracks: one tailored for entrepreneurs and one for professional women. It will feature interactive round tables, rather than workshops. Attendees will play an important role in each moderated session. Each session will be marked by the exciting and inspiring stories of challenge and success of the participants.
Two-time Emmy Award winning television host, New York Times Best Selling Author, magazine and online columnist, writer/producer Suze Orman will deliver a keynote address at the event. USA Today calls her, “a one women financial advice powerhouse.” Her books, as well as those of other authors participating in the conference, will be available for purchase.
The Women Who Mean Business Summit will feature numerous opportunities for both small and large businesses to participate. Please refer to the 2011 Sponsorship Package for details.
